What is a kettlebell?

See our page About Kettlebells.

What makes it different than a dumbbell?

Again, more information here, but let's say here that it is not a fancy dumbbell nor it used like a dumbbell.  Its form and function are different.  Key to developing athletic strength and conditioning is working the hips.  Almost every athletic sport derives its power from the hips--football moves, jumping, swinging a baseball bat or golf club, and so on.  You can swing a dumbbell between your legs once or so before it takes your knees out.  Furthermore, it forces your whole body to work--your core muscles, legs, back, and more.

Just as important as the kettlebell design is the RKCTM training methods.  They have been constantly refined and improved over the years.  As Pavel says, "At RKC, we never rest!"  RKCTM instructors are trained in teaching effective and efficient technique.  You will have to pay strong attention to your movement patterns and your technique with every rep.  It can be just as challenging mentally as it is physically.  When you are doing high-repetition swings or snatches, you will be forced to become a better man or woman--or be shown as a quitter.

Is there an age limit?

People well into their sixties train with kettlebells.  They are extreme, but not elitist.  People in their fifties are still competing.  On the low end, I plan on buying my son his first kettlebell at age 5.  He already pretends to deadlift with a light dumbbell, so why not?

I have a bad back.  Can I train with kettlebells?

Yes, with your doctor's approval.  A search online yields some interesting articles on why training with kettlebells is good for the back.

I don't have a kettlebell yet.  What do I do?

What are you waiting for?  To see my thoughts on buying a kettlebell, look at my resources page.  If you would like to have a lesson while you are waiting for yours to arrive, I can certainly provide one for the lesson.

How much does training cost?

First, note that I am not selling just a training session.  Nor am I selling a membership.  I am selling results.  For 30 days after your session, you will get unlimited email support if necessary.  The actual cost depends on several things.  For example, obviously private lessons are a little higher per person than group workouts.  Some people want both.  I always encourage you to find a partner for a semi-private lesson for a few reasons:

  • It lowers the cost per person
  • If this person is also your training partner, training with a partner improves results--just about always.   You learn from each other, and there is accountability.

What is the 100% return program?

Basically, I will give you a referral fee of 25% of your original lesson cost for every new client you refer to me--up to a maximum of 4 referrals.  So if you take a lesson, then refer 4 new paying clients--you will get a referral fee from me that fully covers the cost of your own lesson.  What a deal!  Check with me though for limitations and questions, as some already discounted rates may not qualify for this offer.

Is satisfaction guaranteed?

Yes.
